Great article. So many great things to chew on. I really enjoyed the Liz and Hiram bits. I’ve never thought about them like that, but definitely recognize their retro sensibilities. Everything is in flux. As they say you can never stand in the same river twice!
Thank you so much! The cruel part is that Heraclitus meant it both ways, the water moving and you moving with it. That's vintage in one sentence: the bottle drifts one direction, the nose drifts the other, and we're trying to plant a flag and call it "the real one".
Maybe the cooling isn't a coincidence either. Fifteen, twenty years ago there was still living perfume from the 70s to reach for. Those bottles have turned since, so we're all cooling at the same time because the the stuff simply aged out...
Great article - lots to think about, especially the overinflated prices of the vintages. I wonder how close the Osmotheque recreations hew to the originals. One day I’ll find out for myself 😏.

Exactly. Well put.
This is great, really enjoyed it. And so true.
Thank you! So glad it resonated ❤️
It's as if there is a collective conscience. I feel this cooling as well, and my heart aches as I clutch my vintages as if they were sacred objects.
This was absolutely brilliant.
